Buckinghams is a family business of 30+ years based in Totton, Southampton, specialising in pine & oak furniture.

We also have a large gift ware department with many collectibles.

UNLIKE MANY STORES, BEING A FAMILY BUSINESS THERE IS NO COMMISSION SO NO PRESSURE SALES.

History

The business started back in the 1970s when Charles Buckingham after almost 30 years experience in the antiques trade went self employed. Known to some as the chairman (as we had the largest stocks of original Winsor chairs in London if not the Uk).

In the late 70s early 80s his sons Charles & Peter joined the firm and we diverged into antique pine. This evolved into new Pine and Oak furniture as the market demand changed. Coming from the antiques side of things has given us the knowledge of what to look for when buying new furniture if you want it to last. 

Buckinghams opened their 1st shop in Hampshire in 1982 and bought the Totton store in 1992.

Mother and Father have now retired and the business is now run in the main by brothers Charles and Peter.

Furniture

The shop is in excess of 6000sq ft and has furniture throughout 11 showrooms on 3 levels. 

Much of our range is available in many finishes and colours, bare wood, waxed, lacquered painted or part painted.

We are glad to have a small British supplier that can make bespoke furniture as well as the many standard ranges they offer, all at competitive prices.

Giftware

Much of our gifts would be classed as collectibles with good displays of Betty Boop, Willow Tree, Beatrix Potter, Disney, Myth & Magic, Cherished Teddies, Lilliput Lane and many more.

We strive to be competitive on our prices (often our aim is to be 10% cheaper) and if it's not in stock are always willing to order if possible.

The gift ware department has recently been moved to our raised level giving a more open feeling. we are always trying to add to this ever changing market with a new display of Trinket Treasures now on show.
